Question Configuring email alerts

I have security cameras which I can view remotely by accessing the IP address of the DVR. I have configured my account for email alerts when IP address changes due to power loss, etc. I rebooted the router manually which gives a new IP address but did not receive any email alert.

I can not find any documentation or FAQ on the issue. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum sburke6000.

There is no way for anyone to help you without knowing what program is sending the notification or how it's configured.

I wonder if the problem may be related to a residential connection blocking port 25 outbound...

Without knowing more about his configuration, I guess we'll never know. You may have the answer though. I had my Untangle box at home setup to send me daily log files and alerts using Comcasts SMTP server because they block port 25 so I can't run a mail server from there. About a month ago it stopped working. I haven't had time to research it yet but I think it's an authentication problem.

If your untangle box supports SMTP with SSL, you should be able to send with (for example) google's SMTP server because they listen for SSL on other ports like 465 and 587 which are not typically blocked by residential ISPs.
