Tracing an email received from hotmail (attached headers)

Hello,
I was reading the posts in this forum but I have trouble finding out the IP from an email I sent myself from my hotmail account to my yahoo account (both web based). Here are the headers taken from yahoo:

How would it be possible to determine the IP from this header?

Looks like you sent the email via the web interface. Which means, the header is only going to contain the hotmail server information.

In this case the IP showing is 65.55.90.18.

I think those are not the whole headers of the email. Usually, web-based interfaces are not able to show them because they are not of interest for the public.

Though, try sending an email to a gmail account and in the contextual menu of 'Answer' look for the option of 'Show original'. This will give you the entire email with all the headers. I've been tracing some emails personally and there's a field named OriginatingIP or something similar.

There you have your desired IP direction and not the ones of the hotmail servers. Good luck!

Even better than forwarding it, see if you can check the email where you received it using a client like thunderbird or outlook via POP or IMAP.

Hi, I received below this very disturbing email on May 30,2009 and I have made several reports about it but now Microsoft has sent me an email asking for the ip address of the email so that they can investigate it further.
