I have a MacBook ...running Leopard operating system. How can I change my IP address [currently - DSL] without turning off modem.

ok when i turn off the swich where the modem and the raouder are plug in to that one big plug i turn that red light off and the modem and the rouder turn off and i let it sit for a while and when i turn it back on and when i went to stickam it still said im banned 1016 i need to talk to the person that owns the site of stickam

Gosh, I don't know! I believe these kinds of services are provided on a particular port and the college may have a way of blocking those ports.

My ISP is earthlink and they block port 25 - so it's impossible for me to connect to any SMTP server which uses port 25.

I suspect your college is doint something similar.

I recommend that you post this question on the forum and somebody else may know the answer. Probably best to put it in 'IP Questions'.
