not sure that its a DNS problem, then

do you have more than one computer at home you can try? if so, are the others doing hte same thing?

have you done any virus scans?

what is your home network like, do you use a router?

have you tried calling your ISP?

thats a tough one

not sure what it is you can do

you say your computer is directly connected to your modem so i think its going to be a problem on your computer

sorry I can't be of more help than that, maybe someone else will chime in with an idea`

This might be a long shot, but it could be worth a try.

Start, Run, cmd and press ok.

At the prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns

Try to surf after the command completes.

If that doesn't work, I'd take a look at your hosts file
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

There is no extension to the file, but it will open and is editable by notepad.

There should only be a sample entry in this file. If there are tons and tons of entries, you should be able to delete all of the entries, save the file and then surf.

Just curious, if you can't get anywhere on the net, how did you get to our site?

If you did a Google search and can follow the links via Google but can navigate directly to the site, you may have to malware installed on your computer.

I would also disable zone alarm just to see if that's the culprit.

Good luck....let us know how it turns out.

Brian

get yourself a linux live boot CD, something like ubuntu or knoppix

boot to it, make sure it recognizes your NIC and you get an IP for the NIC, and see if you have the same problems

if you don't, it's your PC... backup yer stuff and reinstall windows

if you do, call your ISP and complain
