hello everyone. i need some help. I live in a hostel located in a university. There is a LAN connection to each student in the room. Previously it was all ok but now there is a problem. The university has made a new policy that we have to use a secured proxy in order to get the internet facility. the secured proxy requires our university roll number and password. thus the university logs all information we do on the web. i am uneasy about this. I am still unable to find any problem. the proxy is 172.25.10.3:80. I want to bypass this proxy and connect to the internet. is this possible?? by using any other proxy? |

I doubt you'll be able to bypass that proxy. The 172.x.x.x address is a LAN address and I'm guessing if you do an ipconfig in DOS your computer is assigned a 172.x.x.x address meaning you're part of the same LAN as the proxy server.
If you had a direct connection to the internet without going through the University connection then yes, you could bypass the proxy....but in your case, I don't think you'll be able to. Are there any wifi connections around you that don't belong to the University? That might be an alternative. |

I also have my doubts about bypassing the proxy. Any decent firewall will block all requests originating from any IP other than the proxy server.
You might try doing some ping scans, or port scans, see if you can get any replies from anything outside of the LAN. |
