I want to change my IP address, I follow directions on all those youtube video's about going to network management and properties, On the part where I enter the IP I want, I do my IP but change the last digit, The Subnet mask is supposed to enter itself, It does but its different from what I see when I type in ipconfig in control prompt. When I'm all done and search IP config in control prompt the IP is changed but my internet goes down and doesn't come back up. Can you please help me solve the problem and change my IP address.

If your subnet isn't correct, your internet won't work.
But, you could've also grabbed an IP that is already in use by your ISP therefore causing an IP conflict on their network. Make sure it's working with the IP your already assigned, then go for changing it to another. |

so my subnet mask says 255.255.240.0 in control promp when i type ipconfig, when it automatically goes in it says 255.0.0.0
I click "Use the following IP Address" then it asks for IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway. I enter all those in exactly from what I see in IP config in control promp except I switch around the ip address. Then when I'm all done and press close internet goes off. Do i keep 255.0.0.0 or enter whats in ip config? |

The subnet that enters automatically is different from whats in ipconfig. I want to change my IP to register a new account from being falsely banned from an online game. Whats the best way to change my IP so that they won't track me down?

You'll need to keep the 255.255.240.0 subnet. Make sure your DNS and gateway are set correctly as well. Might want to look at purchasing a router that does MAC cloning. That's almost.....almost....a guarantee to get a new IP.
Re: changing your IP to get unbanned in an online game.....try using a proxy. There are free ones out there like Tor for FireFox. You can also try IP anonymizers, they sometimes offer a free trial. You'll need to clear your cookies prior to connecting to the game. |

I have CC cleaner so cleaning the cookies and what not wouldn't be a problem. So I get any working program like hide my ip and run it then CC clean and i'll be fine?

You should be fine. But you won't know until you try.....so hopefully you can find a 'hide my ip' program that offers a trial before you invest any money.
Clean your cookies, connect to the anonymous IP program you choose, then hit the game and see what happens. |
