Default Dynamic IP Problem

I need to connect to a secure website and so my IP has be registered. Problem is that my IP changes every time I log in, so the registered IP does not work. I use a Mac, any one can give me a solution?

I've seen a similar question before--- actually we've talked about it on this forum.

Long story short, you'll likely either need to get a connection with a static IP, or talk to the service you are accessing to work together to come up with a solution.

Well that would depend on your type of Internet Connection. Are you connecting via a router? Are you on cable or DSL? Is your MAC plugged directly into the Cable/DSL Modem?

Hi AluminumHaste - welcome to the forum.

Would you please elaborate on how it depends on the type of Internet connection?

In my area, I asked Comcast and AT&T DSL service about a static IP, and they both replied that this (static IP) is a business-class service, not residential. This was early 2000's.

Basically, what ATL already said applies. The IP Address is set by your ISP, so you'll have to talk to them. If they treat it as a business service, it'll cost you more per month.
