Im wondering if there is a way to change the IP for my laptop using a router that doesnt require me to hold down the reset button on the modem? The only way I know is to change the MAC address, then hold the reset button. Thanks! |

Do you mean the IP on the laptop? You want to change the 192.168.x.x to something else?
I'm not sure I understand. |

You can probably log in to the router and set LAN DCHP lease times to something like 1 hour. Then do an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew at a dos prompt and it should work.
But to be more specific, when you say change the ip on the laptop, do you mean the ip that shows up on the WhatIsMyIP home page or your local LAN ip. The reason I ask is because the 2 ips are different and changing either requires different steps. |

To get your IP to show differently on whatismyip then you'll need to reset the modem. Unfortunatley, ipconfig /release - ipconfig /renew won't work in this case.
