hi all, I am new here I hope I will get more knowledge about internet from here,My doubt is that voip is illegal in uae and also banned, but we can use banned voip eg.actionvoip,freecall etc by using nimbuzz(SIP account) without using any poxy, in this case our ISP can find/understand we are using such program? thanks for help.

(ranting on) I've think that various governments around the world are barking at the wrong tree by trying to ban different parts of the internet. I wasn't surprised to hear last week that an internet freedom party won a seat in the EU Parliament in Sweden. The internet genie is out of the bottle and the future will arrive with or without a warm welcome from politicians. (ranting off).

When are these governments going to learn that banning VoIP is not what the people want. I'm glad you've found a way to circumvent their laws, though. Why exactly do these governments ban VoIP? Is it because they want to force people to use their expensive nationalized phone service providers?
