the IP address you get when you go to whatismyip.com is the IP assigned by your ISP's DHCP server, not the DHCP server in your router

Where are you looking that you are getting that 64.235.x.x IP?
The 192.168 IP is normal (see the link in my signature for explanation) |

rRght now i'm not seeing the 64.235.etc anywhere but those were the ips assignened to me by the isp.
Everything seems to be working on the 72.0.195.x series but will also work the 64.235.209.x series that were assigned by the isp. You can see my confusion here. Thanks |

Yeah, I'm confused myself...
You say that the IP assigned you IPs? How was this done? Did they actually give you a range, or did you simply get an IP when you connected your modem and it was in that range and now its not? Is this a business or residential connection? Are you in the USA? |

This is a residential connection but my business is right next door and I am using it as a business network although a small one.

so on your business connection, are you setting these IPs yourself or relying on the ISP's DHCP server to do that for you?

The internal ips 192.168.2.x are coming from my win2k3 dhcp server. All my machines have the same "what is my ip" 72.0.195.x However, the ips assigned to me by the isp are 64.235.209.65/29 so I don't know why I am getting the 72.0.195.x when i querry "whats my ip"
Nevertheless, my network seems to be working ok now. Thanks |

Yes, your internal IPs are assigned by your server, but how is your Internet IP being assigned? This would be a setting in the router. The router is either set to get the Internet IP from your ISP by DHCP, or it would be static.
That's my question.. |
