Default Change the default login and password

This should be a no brianer....but I can't tell you how many home networks and office networks don't do this simple task.

If you don't change this and a war driver / neighbor gets on your wireless network, they simply enter the IP of your router in their browser and now they have full control over your router.

How do they know the IP of your router?

If you don't have your wireless locked down and they get on your network, their gateway is the IP of your router.

Default

also, in the router login screen, usually the router model number is shown

a simple google search with that model number will usually yield the default username/password
