Angry How do I port Foward for my internet radio?

I have been trying to port forward to my wireless laptop and the portchecker.exe said that my port 8000-8001 is open but when I type in my ip address and port number the server page won't come up... http://138.88.47.134:8001/. I'm using Icecast2 and i have followed some instructions but nothing...
BUT when i do http://localhost:8001/ i can go to my server page... when i put in http://localhost:8001/IZRBoD.ogg into my music player i can listen my internet radio... but if i do http://138.88.47.134:8001/IZRBoD.ogg i just get a message error that the page will not connect...
I have
Modem: Westell 2200
Wireless router: Linksys WRT300N
Laptop OS: Windows XP

I have been looking at other forums and such but it didn't help me...

I'm trying to get my internet radio to work so i can listen to the music elsewhere and so other people can enjoy it also

Hi H

I wrote an article about port-forwarding:
http://clanmills.com/articles/portforwarding/

You'll probably need some tenacity to get it to work - well, I did. It took me 3 or 4 days (maybe 1 hour/day) until I figured it. However you're well on your way to success - you've got port 8001 working locally.

I suggest you on-line port scanner to check the status of your ports. For example: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/

Here's what happens when I ping and nmap you from my Mac: (nmap is port scanner - you can Google and download a windows version)
Code:
503 /Users/rmills> ping 138.88.47.134
PING 138.88.47.134 (138.88.47.134): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 138.88.47.134: icmp_seq=0 ttl=47 time=140.014 ms
64 bytes from 138.88.47.134: icmp_seq=1 ttl=47 time=138.893 ms
64 bytes from 138.88.47.134: icmp_seq=2 ttl=47 time=138.370 ms
^C
--- 138.88.47.134 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 138.370/139.092/140.014/0.686 ms

504 /Users/rmills> nmap 138.88.47.134

Starting Nmap 4.76 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-06-15 22:14 PDT
Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probes, try -PN
Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 2.15 seconds
505 /Users/rmills> nmap -PN 138.88.47.134

Starting Nmap 4.76 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-06-15 22:14 PDT
Interesting ports on pool-138-88-47-134.res.east.verizon.net (138.88.47.134):
Not shown: 998 filtered ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
25/tcp closed smtp
1503/tcp closed imtc-mcs
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 10.83 seconds
506 /Users/rmills>
So. I can ping, but not much else.

As I said, you will need some tenacity and determination. However you'll get there. If you can't get it work, take a break for a day or two and when you return to this, you'll probably make new progress.

If you're really stuck, I can probably give you some 1-to-1 time next weekend on Skype. You'll find my email address on my website.

AboveTheLogic-I been there and done that but no help

clanmills- I've been working on it for 3 days right after i come home from school...5-9 hours per day. My radio server (Icecast2) is still up right now. The port checker said that my port responded. I have also read the article from another thread... Do i have to make a bridge between the modem and router?

Hi H

I'm at work at the moment. I'll give you a reply this evening. Apply Robin's Rule of Debugging - "when it's tough, take a break". We'll get you there. Where are you located?

Right. If the port is responding, you must be almost there.

Do your machines inside the LAN have static of dynamic IP addresses? Here are a couple of screen shots of my router settings. I don't believe I have a bridge - there's nothing very special about the setup.

http://clanmills.com/files/Lansettings.jpg

I've assigned 192.168.2.1..100 for dynamic addresses (and seldom use any) 192.168.2.101..199 for static machine (I have 2 Macs, 2 PCs, and 3 virtual machines (running XP, Vista/64 and Ubuntu).

The belkin router called portforwarding "Virtual Servers". All you have to do is check the ports and forward them to the appropriate machine.
http://clanmills.com/files/VirtualServers.jpg

I believe you can make this work with dynamic (DHCP) addresses. However I prefer to use static addresses for other reasons and the port forwarding fits well with static IP addresses.

If you're still stuck, we can speak on Skype or the Phone - you'll have to deal with my Scottish accent. Saturday or Sunday morning's a good time for me - say 08.00PDT/11.00EST.

I think it's better at the weekend. We are both less busy and there isn't a lot of overlap in our schedules at the end of a week-day. By the time I get home from work, it's getting late in the day for you.

I'm a volunteer and have day job to attend to. Helping on the WIMI forum isn't paid, so I don't have time for dealing with this during business hours.

I think i have done it... I switched to Shoutcast instead of Icecast and now I think it works... I know if I test it on this computer it won't work because the router and/or modem won't allow "U-turns" so i'm going to test it in my school or does this work? http://www.shoutcast.com/shoutcast_p...&ContentFlag=1
