Question DynDNS + WGT624 + Ubuntu = ?

Hello
I've got a 2Wire wireless modem, a Netgear WGT624 wireless router with this Ubuntu machine and a modded Xbox with XBMC on it.

What I've been trying to do is to set up dynDNS on the netgear router so I'll be able to open up my utorrent webui from some place other than my home network.
or even the XBMC webui...
not even sure if that's possible.

either way...
the domain is pdg1.homelinux.net
tried doing a traceroute and it ended with "no reply *"

not sure if that means that it's not getting to my computer... meaning the external IP that dynDNS automagically got is not the right IP for my computer.
meaning I probably have to forward something...
but I really have no clue what's happening here.. and I'm already late for lunch with my folks...
so if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong and could provide some insight... or maybe even give me some online literature.
That would be super

death to Spammers, eh

when I ping pdg1.homelinux.net, it gives the same IP address that you posted from

have you done the appropriate port forwarding?

Ok....so I did an nslookup on your domain and it returned the IP address you signed up from. So that's good news.

From here, you will need to forward a port or ports...just not sure which one. Does the Ubuntu version of uTorrent have the ability to run from cmd line? If so, then just forward port 22 to your Ubuntu machine and then ssh in to the box from where ever (you'll have to enable ssh in Ubuntu first by installing the package). If uTorrent doesn't do cmd line, then your best bet might be to remote desktop in to the Ubuntu box and go from there. The RDP port for a windows box is 3389...not sure what the port might be for Ubuntu.

Maybe some other Ubuntu users can chime in and help.

ubuntu doesn't have RDP on 3389, you can use VNC which defaults to 5900, or user FreeNX which uses SSH (port 22)

I like FreeNX
