I would like to have some tool to automatically detect proxies, not just that random code that goes around, cause it doesn't work with current proxies.
This way I could close the sites to ppl using proxies. Thanks |

Do you have access to your log files?
If not, install Google Analytics....it's free. It'll show you where people are coming from and if they're coming from a proxy, you can block that IP. Brian |

But there isn't any way of detecting if its a proxy when users connect to the site, not letting ANY proxy to login in the site.
Thanks for the reply |

You don't want to block ALL proxies do you?
Not ALL proxies are bad. AOL users who connect via dial-up are probably still surfing through AOL proxies. As well as places where connectivity may be limited, a proxy can be put in place to cache the most visited/popular sites so surfers get the site from their proxy vs. a server from half way around the world....very convenient....especially when you're using 2 tin cans and some string to surf the net. ![]() MaxMind is a very reputable company that has a proxy detection system. You can find the info here. http://www.maxmind.com/app/proxy Brian |

Proxy Detection tool of MaxMind is not good as well, it's check for popular Proxy ports only, like 8080 or 8000

One possible way is to read {HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR] header revealing the real ip of the user behind proxy but this header can be tweaked to be hidden, but some proxies includes it.
