So I'm trying to set up an ad hoc network and not having much luck.
Here's my set up. Dell XPS1530 laptop running Vista 32-bit. I've got my Blackberry 8830 teathered and am connecting to the net via Verizon's VZAccess program. Last November while on the road, I created an ad hoc network and it worked just fine. Now, many updates for Vista, the BB, and VZAccess later, I cannot for the life of me get an ad hoc network to function. Updates, as far as I know, are the only thing that have changed. I create the network in Vista just as the guides online show. Internet Connection Sharing is enabled for my wireless card. The ad hoc network is successfully created, I can see it with my iPod Touch, but after I connect, I can only get a 169.x.x.x IP which ultimately means no connection. I've tried statically assigning IPs and that didn't help either. In the Network and Sharing Center in Vista, the ad hoc network shows up and has a status of Local Only. For some reason, it is no longer bridging the connection to the VZAcess connection. Since I'm on the road, I don't have an area where I can plug in a CAT5 and try to create an ad hoc using that connection vs. the BB teathering method. If that scenario works, then it's a BB/VZAccess problem....but until I can try that out, I'm clueless as to why it's not working. I'm trying to get my iPod Touch online so I can get my iMafia fix. Perhaps this could be my excuse to get an iPhone.Last edited by wimiadmin; 06-14-2009 at 06:00 PM. |
