I use WIMI when I think my IP might have changed. Something which doesn't happen nearly as often as it used to (Thank God!). My work requires that it stays static (or at least semi-static). Back when I had DSL it was totally random. Sometimes it would stay constant for a few weeks, other times for a few days. At one miserable point it was changing every few hours--making work impossible. These days I use cable. Costs less, goes faster, and my IP changes only when I want it to. Sweet. |

I use cable also, and I rely on my IP not changing. I know this is poor coding process but I'm just learning PHP.
I come here to get my ip, so I can use it in my PHP code. If $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] matches my IP, then the script knows it's the administrator. Very poor coding practice for now, but I'll change how I do this eventually. PHP Code:

The only reason I use WIMI is to check my current IP address. This is because from time to time I use proxy to do my work and I just want to make sure it works.

Pardon a novice but I am trying to self educate.
What is the ip; is it your internet address? Why would you want to know what it is and how do you do this? Thank you |

The IP Address we show on our homepage is your external IP address. That's the IP Address users would need if they wanted to connect to you if you were hosting a game, or an ftp, or a server.

![]() Glad to hear you're using this: I plan to keep it much more aggressively up-to-date than has been the case in the past, but don't hesitate to let me know if you find errors or need clarifications. |
