Hi Pinam
I believe WimiAdmin knows about no-ip and will contribute to this - even if only to say that he doesn't know about no-ip ![]() I have a dynamic name (clanmills.homedns.org) which always points to my machine at home (even although the IP changes daily). I obtained the name from DynDns.org who provide a nice client which runs at home and keeps DynDns.org aware of my current IP address. So when the IP changes, the name 'clanmills.homedns.org' remains valid. The other part of this puzzle is to enable your friends to pass through your firewall to your server and this is called 'port-forwarding'. I've written an article about this whole matter at: http://www.clanmills.com/articles/portforwarding/ I hope that helps. Robin |

I've heard more people use dyndns.org over no-ip.com. I've actually not used either. But, another of our forum mods has...AboveTheLogic. Maybe between he and ClanMills, they can get you going.

I used no-ip for a few years, then switched to dyndns because most routers support updating with it, and its free also.
I would recommend either service, they both work great. Dyndns updates work pretty quickly in my experience. |
