Hey, ever since I formated my computer the last time the end of my ip has been changing everytime I rebooted my modem. Like 80.123.***.***. I used this as an advantage while watching movies from sites with limited watchtime, but yesterday it for some reason didn't change no matter how many times I rebooted my comp/modem. Anyone knows how to get the changing IP back?

Is your computer connected directly to the modem or do you go through a router?
I doubt this is coincedence that your ISP started monitoring the IPs at the same time you formatted you computer. |

Yeah those also used to work. I just checked my IRC loggs and found out that my IP has been changing every week its usually 88.115.***.*** or 88.113.***.***

You could try buying a router and connecting your modem to it and then your computer to the router. The router will have a completely different MAC address than the network card in your computer. Since the router will have the different MAC, you'll probably get a new IP address. However, if your ISP is assigning the IPs by the modems MAC address now, then there is nothing you can do other than get an additional modem and switch them out each time you want to change your IP. See if you can borrow a friends router and try that method first to see what happens.
An alternative would be to replace the Network card in your computer. A new network card would have a different MAC address. Now that I think about it, you could probably put like 3 Network cards in your computer and just connect the cord to a different one each time you want the IP to change. That method working would depend if the ISP assigns by your computers MAC or the modems MAC. |

Sorry Brian but that's insanely ridiculous! Why would you tell him to buy 3 NIC's just to change his MAC address??
Just get yourself a MAC spoofer and change it everytime you need to. It will save you time and money. Also, another method to have your IP show up differently, would be to use a proxy. There are many free ones out there, just google "free proxy". |

I don't think it's insanely ridiculous. A pain in the ass, yes....but ridiculous, no.
I wasn't aware that there was such software that did MAC spoofing....thanks for the insight. Any particular software you can recommend? |

I think I've seen the ability to change the MAC address in the properites in device manager before, don't remember if that was a wireless card.
I agree though, different adapters isn't insanely ridiculous at all... |
