Default Change IP with Airport Extreme

Hello,

I have an airport extreme connected to my modem and have comcast. I would like to change my IP but my router doesnt have a mac cloning feature or any mac address feature. Is there another way I can change my IP while keeping my same router and modem?

I'd try DD-WRT if I were you. BUT, be very careful and read their WIKI before flashing your router.

You may just have a long lease time. Have you tried our How To Change Your IP Address tutorial?

Ya, its not connected to my computer so I cant really do any of those. When I do connect it to my computer it uses my computers mac address and changes IPs but when it goes to the router, it goes right back to the original IP. I think I have a super long lease time too.

Not really much you can do in this situation. You can get a new router, but once it's assigned an IP, it'll probably be locked in for a while as well. An additional router would give you the option to switch between IP addresses though....but not really new IP addresses.

Maybe someone else in the forum can add their input to get a better resolution for you.

I have an extra router sitting around but its not N and its not very... reliable. But it would work fine for what I want, the only thing is do I connect it to one of the ports on my current router? Theres also a USB out on my modem, could that help since there is also USB on my apple router.

The alternate router will need to replace the current router each time you want to change IPs. Who knows, after you put the alternate router in place for a couple of days, the lease time on your other router may expire so when you plug it back in, you may get a new IP altogether. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

The USB might help if it has an alternate MAC address. It won't hurt to try.
