Default Allow [bbcode] in signature

Hi,

Can I raise a request to allow [bbcode] or any other way to have a link in our signature again?
Why can't we have a link in our signature using bbcode?

I think that everyone should be allowed atleast or atmost 1 link in the signature code against their contribution.

Hope my request is considerable.

Thanks for a nice forums anyways

[bbcode] has been removed from the signature because spammers are coming here and putting in URLs to promote their own sites when the site is not related to WhatIsMyIP.....or a legitimate personal web page.

Those same people will come here and post things like "nice post" or "thanks for sharing this info", etc. just so their signature with URLs to their product sites show up more frequently when the post doesn't actually contribute to the thread.

No offense, but you appeared to be one of those users with 4 urls in your signature that all lead to product pages selling something and most of your posts have been only things like "nice post", etc. A few of your posts have been contributing and we appreciate it, but we're not going to risk our good traffic and reputation to advertise products to our visitors in which they are probably not interested. Let's face it, our site is popular with a lot of good traffic....what unrelated product pusher wouldn't want a free link to their site(s) from us.

Ok, I understand your concern but it can be sorted out in other ways like if you limit signature to only those who have at least 50 or 100 quality posts?

As for me, I was having only 2 links in my signature and both of them were linked to 1 website that is my personal website and were not selling anything at all.

In future, I will try to bring more quality posts rather than the ones you just mentioned.

I really understand & appreciate your efforts to keep spammers away.

I'm going to work on putting a new group together for users such as yourself that are regular contributors. After x amount of posts, you'll be moved into this group and have more options like the ability to use bbcode in your signature.

I'll let you know when it's completed. May not be for a week or so since we're moving a bunch of servers around right now.

Actually I support this idea as well,
Although Regular members should be allowed to have their signature with a link e.g. blog

@admin
When can i have the bbcode allowed?
Thanks
