Default A "Cancel" Button?

On a scale of 0 to 10, this ranks somewhere under 0.5 to me, but it's nice when it's there. I notice there's no explicit way to cancel a post from the post creation screen. There's a Submit button, and a Preview button, but nothing to provide for cancellation.

Fairly easy to overcome just by using the BACK button on the browser, or the forum menus at the top of the page. However, both (potentially, at least) can cause me to lose my place. So a "Cancel" button would take me to the last page I was at, the one where I clicked to create a post/reply in the first place.

No biggie, though. But, as the saying goes, "The only shot that is guaranteed never to score is the one not taken."

Hi 0

That's interesting. The vBulletin software is used on many fora (I did Latin at school and cannot bring myself to use the word forums). For sure it would be trivial for them to add the 'cancel' button that invokes back(). Then there are other possibilities. Supposing you want to save what you've written so far. Or you only want to clear the form and start over again. Maybe the vBulletin guys decided to avoid those and other use cases.

May I ask why you have brought this up? Are you trying to post from a browser which doesn't have a back button?

I'm sure wimiadmin will have something to say about this.

Yeah...that is an interesting request that would make life easier.

I just went through the options and didn't see a place to enable a cancel button.

0...if you're on another forum at some point and see a cancel button as you've requested, please PM the link and I'll find out what they did to get that button live.

@clanmills: No particular reason, no. I started to post something, got called away, forgot what I was about to say, and noticed that there was no such button. So I thought I'd ask.

I'll if I find one, wimiadmin. As I say, it was simply a case of the need (so to speak) arising, and noticing its absence. I post at two other forums, HowardForums and Blackberry Forums. Both seem to use the same platform, and I just realized they don't have a cancel option, either.

Meh. I thought it was worth bringing up, but nothing that would ruin my day. Or my hour.
