Default Don't hit the home page

Please stop hitting our home page to automate your IP retrievel. We've created an automation page to make this easier for you and easier on our bandwidth.

do you have any form of validation in place? I'm sure there's a few checks we could do to reduce the stress you're site is under? give me a PM or GTalk/MSN me on the address I've signed up with and let's talk..

Hi Andrew. We've built our own banning system that works quite well now after many tweaks.

to be honest it'd be easy to do something without banning them, display the 'automation' page to what look like bots and display the regular page to those who appear otherwise.. you could couple that with your existing banning system and it'd save bw and partially automate the use of the automation system... so to speak..

Few suggestions from my informative pocket
you can implement captcha as suggested by "professional dude" but not for the first time, but if a same user hit a page for more than 3 times than the user may be prompted for captcha as in case of gmail incorrect password

Further, as of your automation page, what do you think of changing 5 minutes into 300 seconds ? so there will be less chance of misunderstanding 5 minutes as 5 seconds.{just my thought}

The other thing you could do is draw the ip as an image on the index, so it's useless to bots ... simply asking nicely wont cut it ...

We've thought about the image thing, but then users wouldn't be able to copy it to paste it where ever they need.

We actually had to remove the "Copy to clipboard" link on the home page as people were automating their process using that link instead of our automation page.
